Kids, as well as the young at heart, can celebrate the holiday season this year with a Christmas Express ride.

The BC Forest Discovery Center said the popular train will operate this year.

Center director Chris Gale said after being forced to cancel the event last year, they are even more excited to bring back the magic of train rides to Christmas.

To ensure the safety of people during the current pandemic, the center will reduce indoor activities and ask for proof of vaccination, wearing a mask and booking tickets online.

This year, the Samson steam locomotive is undergoing maintenance and the Green Hornet locomotive will pull the train past the thousands of Christmas lights that adorn the 100-acre property.

The Christmas Express is the most popular attraction at the BC Forest Discovery Center and in recent years thousands of visitors have made it a holiday tradition to take the train and enjoy other activities at the center.

The Christmas Express is offering additional trips this year and starts operating on Friday December 3 for 16 evenings.
